Kotak e-statements — regular accounts and the app-first 811 range alike — arrive as password-protected PDFs with Dr/Cr amounts and lakh-grouped figures. One conversion makes them Tally-ready.
Convert the statement first
- Upload the Kotak PDF to the converter and enter the statement password — the covering email states the exact format, commonly built from your CRN or date of birth. The password opens the file and is never stored.
- Dr/Cr markers become signed amounts, lakh grouping (1,23,456.78) becomes standard decimals, DD-MM-YYYY dates become ISO — and the statement is reconciled against its printed opening and closing balances.
- Download the Excel export — clean, typed columns.
Import into Tally
- In TallyPrime, press Alt+O (Import) → Bank Statement on the Kotak ledger, or use your practice's Excel import route.
- The exported columns — date, narration, amount, balance — line up with what the import expects; UPI/NEFT/IMPS narrations are intact for matching.
- Verify the closing balance against the statement — it will match, because the conversion had to reconcile before export.
Kotak-specific notes
- 811 statements are ordinary statements: the digital-first accounts produce the same PDF layouts, so they convert identically — useful when a client's business runs through an 811 account opened from a phone.
- The CRN password trap: Kotak's covering email spells out the password format, but it varies by product. The converter takes whatever the email says — it opens the file and is never stored.
