TallyPrime imports bank statements natively, and NoRekey's Excel export is shaped to feed it. (New here? Start at the Tally converter page.)
Step by step
- Convert your statement and download the Excel export — Dr/Cr amounts arrive as one signed column, lakh grouping (1,23,456.78) as standard decimals, with the full narration on every row.
- In TallyPrime, press Alt+O (Import) → Bank Statement, select the bank ledger, and point it at the file. TallyPrime reads the statement formats of 145+ banks; from Release 4.0 you can also use Import → Transactions with an Excel column mapping.
- Set Show Preview to Yes and check the entries before anything posts — the Summary of Imported Statement shows what landed.
- Press S for the Bank Reconciliation Summary once imported.
What about Tally XML?
Tally XML encodes vouchers against your specific ledgers and chart of accounts, which a converter can't know without guessing — so NoRekey deliberately doesn't produce it. If your practice runs an Excel-to-XML converter (common with Tally ERP 9), our export's clean columns — date, narration, signed amount, balance — are exactly the input those tools expect.
Reconciling afterwards
Every conversion is reconciled against the statement's own printed opening and closing balances before export, so the imported period lands on the statement's closing figure. If Tally shows a different balance after import, look for entries that already existed on the ledger — the file itself ties out.
